Hello,
Please teachers, I want to warn you about a horrible school in Veracruz. Called The American School of Veracruz. I was contacted by them last summer, with a contract that said certain facts regarding the job and the conditions of the job.
First of all, the first few months were an absolute nightmare. None of the conditions were true.
We were given NO preparation for the history of any students, or any support as a teacher. Actually, we were thrown into the class (2 groups of 20, sometimes more,) with no support and information. Some of us had only 2 or 3 days to be ready.
As time went on, the conditions got worse and worse.
No support from the administration when there were any problems.
I was teaching grade 6.They call themselves a bilingual school, but none of my students could even write or say a sentence in English. In grade 6!! The students have had 5 years of English!!
I was hired with 4 other native speakers of English (teachers) and all of them left before me. All for the same reasons.
Today, after my first contract was up, I quit. I didn't want to renew my contract at all.
Plus the other teachers of this school, both Spanish and so called English, are so rude, and unfriendly. And don't help a new teacher at all. Instead they withhold information that could really help a new teacher.
Please teachers, do not believe this school. Lies and more lies is all they offer. I had one group that were more advanced, and their parents would only speak to me. Never to the office and administration. What does that tell you??
I wish you well in your positions.
Best regards,
Mitra Amini
