BEWARE OF AMY AKA ANNIE SONG, A RECRUITER WITH THE SOOKOK INSTITUE & KINGS ENGLISH SCHOOL, CHANGWON, KOREA

Annie Song is a recruiter for a school in Changwon, she called us after we applied to her add on the Korean page, the add is still up on this board, so be very careful.
She contacted us by phone and interviewed the two of here; we are both experienced teachers that were looking in the same area to teach.
The interview went well and she said she wanted us to be there by the weekend, which was not an option so we said the next week.
OK so what happened?

This is what she promised us.

1.9 mil, a two-bedroom apartment, not sharing, reimbursed international and domestic flights, holidays etc, she sent the contracts through and they looked ok. We had contact over the phone and everything was looking good to leave.

When we got the contract, we had a few questions about the housing and how far away the schools were in relation to our accommodation and whether there was a western toilet or phone. We were ready to buy the tickets the very day we called her to ask these questions, so it was important that we got them answered.

THEN!!!! When we phoned her, the conversation turned completely bizarre, as she told us that the director of the school was very angry that we were asking all these questions. Hello!!!! alarm bells started to ring in our heads. She said that because I wanted to take a single apartment, instead of an officetel that was owned by the director, which also denied the Director the key money that went straight into his pocket, I was now to share with two Koreans in a Korean apartment with no western toilet and I was not allowed visitors.

I was traveling with my best friend who was to work at the other school that Annie Song was recruiting for. His accommodation was an empty room in a house, not a furnished house like she said, and he wasnt allowed visitors as well and the house was occupied by a Korean family and he wasnt allowed access to the kitchen without permission. We asked how does he cook, she said that wasn't her concern and your happiness was not important to her it is secondary to the school, she said because I wouldnt go into the officetel and pay key money etc the director wasnt able to feed his kids, so he would take it out of our wages. It was total crazy talk by Annie Song

**We were horrified and shocked**

She also asked why we never asked about the curriculum, we told her that we would assess that when we got there because it was too bloody hard to understand her, she then called my elderly grandmother who took a message for us when we were out a "silly b*tch", which I then let out a few choice words of my own.

The fact is, she completely lied and told us what we wanted to hear to get us there, she told us not to worry about anything that the school is very honest and the director is her friend, so we were feeling good about another year ESL teaching.

We said to her that we could have bought the tickets today and been out of pocket thousands of dollars, she said she didnt care and it wasnt her concern.
We gave her references to check in both Korea and china, she had the nerve to say "I dont think Ill be trusting you", she said that the other teacher ran away and you will too. Its no wonder the teacher ran away, after probably experiencing first hand, what we luckily found out before we flew to Korea.

She also said that our experience in china means nothing, also we dont understand Korean culture, because we were asking questions about our accommodation and the reimbursement of airline tickets. What that had to do with understanding Korean culture I still dont know. Considering we spent a year there already, we think w know a little about the culture.

So the end result was we told her to stick the contract, and we would be warning about this recruiter to you guys on here, so please ask her questions and just be careful because she is a liar. BE VERY VERY CAREFUL OF ANNIE SONG representing the Sookok Institute. Since our last conversation, Annie has now changed her name on ESLTEACHERSBOARD.COM TO AMY ANDANA and her email to ana2004@empal.com, representing Kings English School in Changwon, after we told her that we would post a warning on ESL sites about her. So please be very careful and avoid this women!!!!!!!!

This is the first negative experience we have had in Korea. Enjoy teaching guys. We love it, but thought you should be warned about this woman. Sorry this is so long guys, but we thought we should let you know.

Contact me if you need more details
