Re Hate VIPKid

Ever wonder why they seem to care MOST about teacher referrals? Ever wonder why most teachers - especially experienced ones - have to sit through multiple Mock classes covering the same material and you are referred back to more training videos? Ever wonder MANY of their "top teachers" have youtube channels and the training videos themselves are youtube linked? Ever wonder why there are sooooo many short training videos that are repetitious for the same Mock classes? Ever wonder why back in 2018 when VIPKIDS went HEAVY into advertising for teachers on social media, many of the current teachers lost bookings and complained? Ever wonder how they went from 10,000 teachers to 40,000? Ever wonder how the math worked with only 100,000 students needing teachers? Ever wonder why they use current teachers to "mentor" (decide whether you will pass to be hired) instead of supposedly existing administration or supervisors?

The answer is in the "click." They WANT you to click on the videos and supplemental videos with individual channels of teachers who are going to freely "coach" you through your Mock class because as a fellow teacher, they care! But pass you most likely will not even after attempting the Mock class multiple times after hours of training and videos. When you think about it, why should you pass? If you pass, the teacher interviewing you just hired his/her competition for a dwindling pool of students. What would be their incentive for passing you? They very much DO have an incentive to send you back to the training videos, however. All of the social media advertising and cross links, all of the youtube channels from cross links with "training" for classes, all of the training classes themselves cross linked, and internet search advertising.....that is where the money is. Get the applicant to click. For the interview, I most likely clicked on 10-12 different videos all channeled in with v.ip kid (trying to avoid bot searches here). For the first Mock class, I did the same and most likely more. For the second Mock (which, of course, I was sent back for more training seminars and videos), I did the same.

The interesting part is you can receive feedback from your mentor on something NEVER covered in the training and very subjective and try to cater to that mentor's feedback and try again in the next mock class. A different mentor is looking over the previous mentor's comments and will find yet something else not covered in training, or worse, completely contradict the training videos or your own teaching background and set up links so you can receive "further information."

The incentive for V. ip kids is not to hire more teachers, but to get paid through clicks on youtube and hits on searches. Think about it. If 1,000 applicants every week are clicking multiple times on these channels as much as I did, that's easy quick money for this company.

Hate VIPKid

Big conglomerate. No personalized attention and no love lost. They want you to refer more teachers to them when they won't give you hours.
And heaven forbid you get sick and cancel classes.
