The salary has been reduced again this school year 2017-2018.My work load is roughly 20 classes a week,but we must stay on site from 7:30 am-5:00 p.m., even later at times, when we have meetings (arguments) with the hostile Chinese teachers.

The Chinese administration are businessmen with poor moral integrity. They are extremely unorganized and take any chances they can to take salary from teachers and make parents pay more for tuition and boarding fees. The lack of communication from the top is terrible and the lack of communication between Chinese staff and foreign staff is bad. They don't plan ahead and will tell you about class cancellations 1 day after your class was cancelled. They also schedule events at inconvenient times (like weekly meetings from 7-9:30 pm and last minute events on Saturdays) and have zero concern for their teachers. They will do their best to avoid paying bonuses and the insurance is the absolute minimum. There is very little professional development; their IB training consisted of a man reading off of a PDF for an hour while we sat there.

Discipline and anything that administration would help with at a real school simply doesn't exist here.The location is also quite far from city convenience. It is located far from any metro and you often have to rely on a gypsy taxi guys to get around and that's expensive and not safe. It is a 45 minute drive into Guangzhou, which is an old dirty, run down city.

The environment can be so stressful because of the terrible management and poor ethics from the Chinese managers.Understand this is not a real school. It's a shell of a school and it is missing so many basic fundamentals and the students are missing out on a real education.Last year they started forcing (do it or your fired) the foreign teachers to do a monkey song and dance on Monday mornings.The students find this VERY amusing and funny, often asking us to do the cgs monkey dance during our English lessons.The students as young as they may be have the power to vote us out and sack us.Do that funky monkey dance, if you value your job!
