This is 100% untrue. There is no way that any representative from Gateway Language village would ever say that you would be put up in a hotel. Gateway Language villages has apartments that have been converted to a dormitory. Also, the summer is split up into 3 sessions. If you only do 1 session you will be paid at the end of the session. If you do all three then you get paid at the end plus a bonus. Perhaps you were contacted by a 3rd party recruiter. If so, please e-mail copies of your correspondence and I can forward it to the GLV staff member who is responsible for recruitment.
I am a former GLV teacher and trainer, I worked there for almost 5 years and it was a wonderful experience. I quit last month to return to America to pursue my Masters. The summer program is excellent and I'm planning to work it next summer.

I was heading down to do a six week summer camp, and as per their offer I was to get a room in a hotel, and paid every two weeks.
When I confirmed these offers they replied "we feel you are not a good fit, we can only offer shared accommodation and pay at the end of the six weeks".
So there you have it, another nail in the coffin that is China, for me.
