Michael's English School in Dalian, China purports to teach American phonics and English speaking. This school boasts American curriculum and American teachers. However, this is not the case. Do a quick Google search and what little you will find about this obscure school includes a link to a Facebook page in of all languages - French! This school has been known to use French and Russians to teach "American English" and probably still does. Using Russians allows the school to pay less for teaching and also helps the school to dodge obtaining proper working visas required for native speaking English teachers.

The owner is an American who has a Chinese wife. Neither one of them have any training in teaching. The owner uses his MBA as if it somehow provides him with the expertise to teach American curriculum. Actually, the American curriculum the school advertises is nothing but a loose collection of photocopied books and the free online Starfall phonics and reading program.

Teachers come and go. Some get fired, some do runners, and some just disappear.
