Correc, 5000 RMB is even less than a single flight may cost. So you will have to cover the
return fare by yourself. Not very motivating and encouraging!

What I found is that flights from Europe to China are only a fourth of what US citizens would
pay for a direct single flgiht from the US to China. From the US to China it's about
2000 USD for a single flight to China; from somewhere in Europe it's only 450 - 460
Euros - both in Economy class!

Firstly, if you'll want to return within a year, then perhaps this is something that you need to consider- after all, Enfly is a business, and we are an investment.
Of course they will want us to stay on longer if we have a good rapport with them/the schools- and it makes complete business sense to price the annual flight allowance this way, so that your optimal stay falls between 2-3 years. It's just maths.

If you shop around (I highly recommend skyscanner.net) there are flights leaving today from Texas for example, starting at $762 (or if you want to fly tomorrow, $707). If you book in advance, and don''t mind transfers, you can probably get under the $500 mark! (This is on par/cheaper than an EU flight) so claiming that your US flights are quadruple the cost is just a case of misinformation/lack of resources.
