Re ESL Winter Camp in South East ASIA, AKA GRA Korea

HI Victoria

MY name is Dave and I used to work for GRA korea for the camp last July -August 2015, with mark, gail, eve, amber and sophie and the rest. I understand what u gone through, I went through that same experience as well. I thought that this will be a job that is intended for 4 weeks and all of the sudden when arriving in malaysia I was told that it will be only for 2 weeks. That is kind of miss information. They donot even tell teachers the truth when they will be staying at the camp and how long. I was hired by them to take care of Teaching English and art activities and I see that when doing an activities class there was not any supplies to go around at all.. that is very sad that this organization was not prepared at all. We did not get the right kind of info at all and it was a miscommunication every time by the South african women Sohpie wonton and Mr SHIM. They were asking me at the end of camp to get them more students for their next camp. There was one time when I was teaching a class I was told by the korean staff for my return flight going back home will be impossible for lisbon spain, I was sent a ticket by this organization for Hanoi Vietnam because it was the cheapest for them and in the begining this organization paid for my flight from lisbon spain- singapore and it came out of my pocket for the the rest of the way to come to Malaysia.

Be careful as well since this company cannot be trusted as well and teachers are being promised this and in the long run always get the run around. I wish u luck, I am finally back home in Lisbon Spain but I had to pay over $1550 usd for a one way ticket on iberia airlines to fly home form Vietnam..

Good luck to u and thank u for letting everyone know

Hi I am jason Stone and I understand the situation that u were in when at GCAMP ran by GRA Korea.. Its very sad about the situation that u been into.. I even was used by them when I had to take a video advertisement for the class which I was teaching because they wanted to use that footage for their next camp.. All of a sudden 3 minutes later they said never mind and it really hurts that when a Staff from this camp asks you to do something they should honor it. I myself felt uncomfortable to at the camp and I made my mistake is getting a job like this and we all have to be careful.

Take care and hope that u are doing great now

Re ESL Winter Camp in South East ASIA, AKA GRA Korea

Hi Victoria,

I'm Dwayne fraser and I am a native speaker from Canada. I used to work for GRA Korea for winter camp from January 6th to February 4th 2015.. Even I too was treated so badly by the korean staff, They even spread lies about me and that I wasn't doing a good job and its not true at all.. I focus on what I needed to do to take care of the kids and not go through that Drama. I am glad to respond to you. I even myself had a hard time with the Staff at GRA korea because this situation they had us teachers work more than 8 hours a day with no off time. No set schedule and no set Curriculum. They were saying that its a fun and learn camp, It was not at all, The kids were complaining that Mr SHIM set the camp more like a military style and when I saw what happen, It just made me feel uncomfortable.

I with two other teachers were not given the right information at all from what was the schedule for our activities. They gave us only $10 SGD for our dinner when we went to singapore for each teacher and we were not paid accordingly to what it was said on the craigslist add. Even I was not given fare for the bus from Kuala Lumpur Malaysia and also my luggage on a one way Airasia flight was not covered from bangkok Thailand to KL malaysia and I paid out of my own pocket more that $400 USD and it was horrible.

The Staff made me feel unconfortable, the other teachers made me feel unconfortable as well.. Tell others to be careful its not a good company

ESL Winter Camp in South East ASIA, AKA GRA Korea

Warning, Warning Folks, This is too good to be true. Please be aware everyone that this company GRA Korea, just recently changed the Craigslist ADD to ESL Winter Camp SE Asia. Before when it was listed as of November 2nd 2015 it was listed Under ESL Winter Camp Malaysia and Singapore.. Do not be fooled folks.. This company is a total scam. There have been teachers that went to this camp last July- August 2015 and even before that and not treated that well.. These koreans only care about making money and not the welfare of the teachers and other staff.

Let me tell u my experience back in 2014 around July- August I was there with my boyfriend for 4 weeks we both were hired and I was hired without any experience and I've noticed something wrong. I was with other teachers and we were all stuck in one flat, with out any notice and Finding out during my stay in Lotus Desaru that this camp is not what I expected. The two staff members Mr Kim and Mr Shim didnot give us any idea or anything what was the name of this camp and who are we going to teach as students. This organization out of despiration will go through all the teachers and make them work more than 8 hours a day with no curriculum and no structure at all. We were forced to make a teachers Handbook, Student Handbooks and the placement tests during my first time here at the camp, no one had an idea on what is going on because there was no structure at all.

We noticed that during our time here the staff was not very honest with us, I even felt mistreated and used alot and they were not honest in telling us what was going on and if this camp has been going on from before or not. We found out later the teachers and I that The korean staff told us that they are only after making money from this camp and nothing else.. I really felt bad for the students during my time here.. I even had Mr Kim sat in my class one time for no reason even though I was teaching the class perfectly fine it just happens. At the last day of camp in August 2014 we 6 teachers were dropped off in singapore by the bus and was not even given our last salary and even cab rides to go to our next destination. We were all upset by this

The korean staff tested all of us teachers and we felt like we were used for their own personal game.. Please be warned every one, I had some friends of mine that got scammed out of a return flight going back home, some even had to pay for luggage fees at the airport. We all didnot even get paid at all.. They just wanted us to work for free.. Becareful what u see in the craigslist add it can be changed from time to time..
