I am not sure whether it coluld be called the Chinese way of doing business but I have seen it in China far too often. Some people there tried the same with me but it did not work out for them because I was better educated than them and was self-confident enough to see the reason behind all this.

2. In the 19th and the first half of the 20th century, many Chinese were subjected to the same humiliating treatment that you were given by this Yang by foreign Western powers. It has left scars in the collective minds of most Chinese people. China may rise in global power and have reached a cerain level of development in terms of Western standards. Nevetheless, the scars in the collective minds are still there, and so some of them would play their little games of humiliating other people that they or their fathers were subjected to before. This still shows that they are still something like the slaves of their own collective trauma and now feel good at doing the same what others did to them before. After all, the Chinese are not "white" either.

Yes, add in the fact they cannot forgive the Japanese despite numerous apologies, and are having a holiday this Thursday to stir up national pride (wouldn't want to be a Japanese person for love nor money inside China on that day!), along with this collective victim complex, and it is a dangerous combination.

Yes, the Chinese are not "white" either, so they should not be racist to others.
