Re Huludao Primary School -- Requiescat in Pacem Aeternam

I have also been following this thread with much personal interest. It does pertain to me directly.

And to Dr. Turnoi for all of his kind and healing words, thank you very much.

My turn, friends. Mr. Yang hired me in 2010 after a few Skype calls and checking my references and diplomas and background. I am a Mexican citizen but I lived in the States for 15 years and attended high school and part of university there. Master's degree from the Universidad Autonoma in Mexico City, one of the country's best.

I got the visa after about three months and left for Huludao via Beijing (also not met at airport). Also kept waiting at least 90 minutes at the train station (temperature was something like - 28 C. I arrived in early February). Mr. Yang picked me up and I could tell that something was wrong. He told me that I didn't look like my picture and that my skin was darker than expected (I am 100% Spanish by background as my parents were Spanish Civil War emigrants to Mexico). A third world prejudice ... right away.

He took me to my apartment -- filthy as all of the others have written and left me there. No food, no RMB, the apartment was cold and dank. I went to school the next day and I was told that although the school only had three teachers, including me, there were not enough classes "to go around".

But out of the "goodness of his heart", he agreed that I could live in the school's apartment for free and that I would teach 2 classes per week in his school and 30 classes per week in an inner city kindergarten. They would do my papers, pay me for the two hours per week, and the kindergarten would pay me for its work at a much lower rate. Also, no buses to the kindie so I had to arrange transport myself and pay for it.

I tried it for one week. It was untenable. I complained to him about the contract and all and then he cursed and screamed at me, just like with all the others. And then he fired me for insubordination and being "fractious" as he put it. He gave me 72 hours to get out of the apartment.

I didn't take it lying down. I called the Mexican Embassy and they complained to SAFEA Beijing who then complained to SAFEA Huludao (a corrupt litte man by the name of Mr. Zhang). Yang was ordered to give me more time to leave the apartment and ordered to pay me for his having broken the contract. I collected the fine and left in three weeks and went to Shenyang where I found a job and taught at the same government school for almost six years.

Everyone here talks about the drinking. That I don't know. I do know, however, about the insanity, and the screaming, and the shouting, and the abuse, and the playing one teacher off against the other (he forbid the other teachers to have anything to do with me and guess what ... they took me out to dinner every night until I left and let me stay in their apartments after I gave Yang the keys back for his apartment).

Like the others I have written, in all my life, I have never met a more sinister and more lurking person. Something is wrong in that head of his.

And his school, cold, unwelcoming, unfriendly and uncaring and so Communist, Communist like 1950 Lavrenti Beria.

I am glad that it went under. It deserved this.
