GW's do tend to be annoying know it alls.

Most likely, because their degree is not even in anything related to English/Linguistics. I have been condescended to, on more than one occasion in China, by GW's who did not even have a degree or a degree related to English, let alone a TEFL certificate. I can only surmise then it is hostility and a knife in your back culture amongst GW's. I knew of an aussie woman who didn't understand why I didn't want to teach kindergarten....I said why should I, I have a degree, and I like the public job I had of 16 classes a week, for 8,000 a month with free living costs. GW's never get it!!!!!
