If you enter the country as a tourist and then want to be a teacher or find a job while you are in China you still have to leave the country to get your "Z" visa which makes it legal for you to teach there. For instance, if a school says they will pay 5000RMB to 8000RMB for 16-25 hours of teaching a week. That really means that they will pay you 5000RMB for 25 hours.
