In response to Re: Meten English, Wuhan, China (foxy)

Foxy, thanks a bunch for referring me to a reliable recruiter. I'll contact her right away. Hopefully she'll be able to assist me. I'll let you know how it goes.

I'd wished from the beginning of my search to teach in a public school, but when it came to scanning the web for positions, the task of actually finding one of these jobs began to look nearly impossible. I turned away from the idea for two reasons. For one, public schools seem to insist that teachers have an MA or at least two years of experience (then again, private training centers all say they require two years experience as well, yet none could really care less). I recently graduated with a BA (in English even!) and have two years of weekly volunteer experience tutoring elementary schoolers with reading challenges. I've probably just been shortchanging myself...

Secondly, public schools aren't advertising positions like the private centers do, nor do recruiters so aggressively seek out potential teachers for these positions. There's less money for them to make, I'm guessing; and, for a second assumption, I'd bet public schools don't have such rapid turnover rates.

Anyhow, Meten offered a position, but they haven't shown me a contract yet- another cause for serious suspicion. Trust me, I'm not fool enough to commit to a company unless they're open to display, discuss, and negotiate a contract.

Where have y'all ended up working? Nobody is ever moved enough to post their enthusiasm and love for a given position, so I'd love to hear some success stories. Everything else on the web is just so depressing.
