Mrs G[edited] made me work 6 days a week. I requested to have two days off as in the contract but no. I came to bloody work for one bloody hour on my day off. This prevented me from visiting my wife and kid each week. The woman is just cruel. The only other teacher in her school is a mad man who wears the same clothes, which include a ski hat everyday, [edited] only talks to kids
he does not eat pork [edited]

a heartless money loving [edited]

That sounds like the worst school in China in a awful location, awful conditions. It looks like a sewer. It is better to work for a larger Chain school but all are crap

Da lián, kāi fā qū, Dalian Development Zone, Jinzhou District,

Pros

It is a quiet area with mild summers.

There are a few import shops, which sell western food.

Motorcycles and street vendors are banned, so there are less bad mannered farmers in the streets.

There are a few public universities that pay a higher salary due to the location.

Summers have less pollution than other parts of China.

There is a lot of seafood. The area has many Japanese and Korean restaurants.

There are small international communities due to the foreign factories in the area.

Cons

It is one hour from downtown Dalian. All buses and trains stop before 8pm. Moreover taxis are reluctant to drive between the two locations unless you pay extra. It is an expensive area where many rich Chinese live. However the cost of living is similar to Dalian city centre.

The pollution is very bad during the winter due to central heating being activated.

The beach resort is 40 minutes away but is only open in the summer and is of very low quality. Also the sea has no waves and there are no water sports or activities.

The area is a small suburban area with many elderly people and few young people. It is a difficult area to make friends or find a single woman under 45.

The people in this part of China are not very attractive. There is no nightlife in the area apart from a few massage shops, karaoke clubs and tiny sleazy bars with a couple of 50 year old engineers as there only clients.

Local private schools are small independent businesses that have extremely high turn over of staff rates. And have a reputation for not paying teachers correctly or at all. The economy is very bad at the moment and many businesses are closing and locals are moving to other areas.

It is the area where two petroleum pipelines exploded in 2010. Also there is a power plant very close to the town centre.

wow, I found this link on the first page of bing! I worked in this place part-time. I never got to speak to FTs they were always in class. The boss makes the TA and the cute receptionist clean the toilets when they are not busy doing mundane tasks. Only a miser wouldn't hire a cleaner. Saving 20 RMB and humiliating her staff, oh nothing like power

often being called repeatedly and put under a lot of pressure to take extra classes made me change my number! It must be hell working there full time. I remember turning up and not being told what I was teaching in a 3 hour class until 5mins before it began. Then as I left I was just given another 3 classes, which I had not agreed to teach. Nobody lasts long in this place. But being paid on the 20th of the second month you know you are going to get screwed i would never sign.

Avoid this employer!

This school is in the middle of nowhere; it is 100m from a disgusting beach, which is located next to an oil refinery. Where there was a large explosion and a huge oil spill a few years ago. 300m in the other direction is a power station. 1 hour by taxi from Dalian city centre and 15 minutes by taxi from the development area's small town centre

Alright back to basics... Did you really expect a good outcome handling an academy named FARMINGTOWN?

Farmingtown Academy

Farmingtown Academy, Dalian, China is a terrible employer. The boss treats teachers as slaves and steals their money. It is only just over a year old and already the boss has stolen 3 teachers’ salaries. Every teacher employed at this school has quit in less than 5 months due to poor treatment and breaches of the labor law and employment contract. Here is a list of problems I had with this school.

1.I was paid late every month

2. My holiday pay was not paid

3. I was forced to work overtime on my days off.

4. I was forced to work overtime on days that were paid holidays in the contract.

5. I was not paid correctly for working overtime.

6. I was not given medical insurance.

7. My working hours were not stated in the contract.

8. I was not given or signed the appendix to the contract.

9. My boss was given 30 days resignation. However, Mrs. Gong informed me that I could not resign and I would be fined for resigning. I was also told that my resignation would not be accepted and that my boss will blacklist me.

10. Forced to work for 4-5 hours regularly with not breaks and for 12 hours on a Saturday with 11 teaching hours.

11. Also my boss paid me in cash late every month (after the 20th as stated in the contract. And said I should pay my own tax as she does not pay tax or make social security contributions)

12. My boss came to my house with 3 police officers to threaten me with being blacklisted. She previously stated that she would not pay my salary for December and January even if I complete the rest of my 30 days notice. This took place after I sent an email stating that I could not go to work due to illness that day. Why would I work for free after resigning and being told I would be fined 4000 US dollars!

13 Also I read that Chinese labor law states my boss cannot fine me for resigning and giving 30 days notice or refuse to accept my 30 days notice.

14. The school was inspected twice by police. My passport was kept for 2 months on arrive due to the first inspection. The second inspection was a fire inspection according to the boss, but a part-time teacher never returned.

Under Chinese labor law my contract can be terminated immediately because it has been breached. Also my boss should pay me my salary and a breech penalty. But there is no rule of law in this place.
