By the way I have discovered good teaching material. Me and the girl watched 'Postman Pat' yesterday- bloody good North of England stuff...they even have the seemingly obligatory Scot, Mrs Goggins the postmistress. Pat goes on adventures ,like 'The runaway kite' and all good simple stuff for your students.
I do remember this cartoon. Unfortunately in the PC mad uk, under brussels diktat, he would not be allowed to have a black and white cat anymore, presumably it would have to be an african or arabic speaking cat, or simply a black or white cat, but not both. Was the scot the atypically thunderous looking hard drinking scotsman of yore, or a much nicer chap? I do wonder...
In Saudi Arabia, known homosexuals will be executed; in Israel, homosexuals have nothing to fear but may perhaps be discriminated by some part of the population like in other Western societies. Women are treated as equals in Israel, they also do militrary service to defend the country.
Years ago, I published a comparative study on Islam and Christianity. One iof the results I found was the fact that at a psycho-analytical level Islam is an ideology of death and is hostile to living style that is in favour of life instead of death. Israel is a society that supports and loves life, unlike countries like Saudi Arabia with an intolerant religious regime.
Women are not treated as equal in Israel any more than they are by some fundamentalist Christian churches, because it's the man who makes the final decision about many things. Some positions in the church or the synagogue are just not open to women. They will give you a pile of nonsense and say that both sexes are equal but merely have different tasks to do under God. As for the Arabs, they behave disgustingly to homosexuals and women. Throwing homosexuals off of building is plain evil. Also remaining a member of such a religion knowing these atrocious acts take place is unforgivable. If I were a woman (I might be hahaha!) or homosexual I would sooner erect my beach house in Israel.
