Re: Doing the bare minimum is not laziness!

I think you are wrong, everyone can read into a word what he or she feels.

Again you just promote your agenda.

Strawberry is cupboard next dog tea quickly bubbles, the window thinks jump shoe beautiful at now? Just kiss some telephone it down are you run sleeping?!

Oh, I'm sorry.. You may not have understood my meaning there... Because words have definitions!!

If you honestly think words can mean anything, then why do we teach languages at all? People could just make it up as we went along! Words have meanings, so that sentiments expressed can be understood. This is not promoting an agenda, it's speaking English! Turnoi got it wrong (again), accept it with a little humility.

And what agenda is that? That a teacher should do their best for their students? That lessons should be tailored to a classes ability? That students deserve the best from their teacher no matter where they live in the world or whatever their gender? That teachers should not have sexual relationships with their students, or groom them for hook-ups at a later date? That words have actual definitions that aren't interchangeable with other definitions?

What you consider an 'agenda' is just good teaching practice. And one I am happy to promote.

Re: Doing the bare minimum is not laziness!

everyone can read into a word what he or she feels.

"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean -- neither more nor less."
"The question is," said Alice, "whether you can make words mean so many different things."
"The question is," said Humpty Dumpty, "which is to be master - - that's all."

Okay Humpty Dumpty, that is certainly true. But the rest of the world considers it ignorance and misuse of the word.

Re: Doing the bare minimum is not laziness!

..This "definition" is your private ontology we need not further elaborate on here.
Sigh.

No, Turnoi, it is not my own private definition, it is the only definition. For heaven's sake buy a dictionary!

The definition of sexist is showing bias based upon the gender of a person.

The definition of lazy is doing as little as possible, or nothing at all, in place of a thorough job because you don't want to put in any effort. Synonymous with workshy, idle, indolent and torpid.

Educate yourself.
