Re Being drunk while teaching

Yet AGAIN you fail to realize that the chinese education system is based on laziness and mediocrity,
Two wrongs do not make a right.

There is a difference between abusing the system and failing your students by doing whatever constitutes the minimum effort on your part.

Stop blaming the system for your own shortcomings.

Re Being drunk while teaching

Chinese teachers and Foreign teachers alike will continue to abuse the system as it abuses them....like begets like. Turnoi is intelligent enough to notice this, as is SB and myself.
I am fully aware that an unregulated system attracts teachers like you who wish to capitalize on such a broken system.

That doesn't change my opinion that teachers should do their very best for the students in their care, instead of coasting by doing the bare minimum and taking advantage of an unregulated and understaffed educational system. Adding to the problem is not going to help anyone but yourself... The fact is you are only out for yourself as previously admitted. So you can hide behind the 'bigger ESL question' all you like, you are part of that problem.

There's not much I could do to change the Chinese education system, I'm a teacher not a politician, so I do what I can at a grassroots level, by giving my students my very best, instead of coasting by doing very little and blaming the system for my own failings, as you do.

just admit that somebody who happily admits to doing the bare minimum for his classes might.not be the paragon of teaching you claimed him to be.

Yet AGAIN you fail to realize that the chinese education system is based on laziness and mediocrity, hence why do the mainland parents pay for their children to be educated in HK (still considered outside mainland china!) and canada and elsewhere?

I was tutoring a boy from a rich mainland family here in HK, for whose parents money was no object. When I asked them why they preferred HK, they said the education system was better as he can learn english better and that it counts for more than education on the mainland.

The fact is I see it, many mainlanders (parents and teachers alike!) see it, and many of the students see it. Until the shithouse comes crashing down, then Chinese teachers and Foreign teachers alike will continue to abuse the system as it abuses them....like begets like. Turnoi is intelligent enough to notice this, as is SB and myself.

Re Being drunk while teaching

Would you perhaps agree that the standards for standing or not standing with people in this respect are the same for the two of us or not?

Who do you think I'm standing with? I think you'll find if you look back at the thread I've disagreed with Veloce quite often, it just hasn't resulted in insults and smoke-screening that drag out the contested point until it's stretched so thin it's transparent!

I understand you have had troubles with posters in the past who you say are low-lives or fakes, but seeing as until a few days ago you were sure that I was that same person you now say Veloce is, you must understand my scepticism regarding your assessment of the identity of people.

I believe we (you and I) are making progress, which is a good thing given our agreement on the majority of issues. My only worry is that you defend CT for things you would have torn me a new one for saying!

I'm not asking that you disown him, just admit that somebody who happily admits to doing the bare minimum for his classes might.not be the paragon of teaching you claimed him to be.
