Re Beijing New Youth School

Interesting philosophy. Someone didn't like their time at a school and instead of actually providing information about it, they reference Mr. T. Well done, you might just convince a fool.

If you are not a native English speaker, you shouldn't be allowed to teach English

Please note the quote, Mr T!

If you are not a native English speaker, you shouldn't be allowed to teach English, just like I shouldn't be hired to teach Spanish or French.

:) :D :b
Well, the debate took an interesting turn, from 'complaints' to 'native & non native' proficiency of the language.
Lolz.

@ foxy, do you work as a recruiter? Are you looking for a job?

As far as I'm concerned , Idon't work as a recruiter.
I know one of the teachers, who has been fired by the school because of his inappropriate behaviour & his inefficiency as a teacher. He is posting negative comments about the school. It is not true. So, don't believe it.

I don't see why this is important for any teacher. It boils down to the contract and what you sign. Instead of using a forum thread like this as a litmus test to accept or reject an offer, potential teachers need to contact native English speakers from England, America, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand to find out what exactly the city is like as well as the working conditions.

I am getting the impression that there are some greedy foreign teachers out there trying to make a bad name for a rural school. I would like to see concrete evidence for any gripes or grudges. Enough of this money talk, did you like your apartment? Did you like your students? If you worked more than 6 months, then why are you complaining now?

Yes, the challenge is on, give us the details (not email, put up a site and show us, scans, everything) or please move on to your next "adventure".

P.S. If anyone is posting bad English and not from a native English speaking country, I suggest you refrain. It's not helping. Get the text proofread by a native English speaker.

Sadaf, thanks for your side of the story. As everyone knows, there are always two sides to every story, and bothg of them should be heard. Your post in that respect was well worth reading.

By the way, can you tell us if your school obtains any of its foreign teachers through recruiters?
If that is indeed the case, approximately what % of the money allocated for the foreign teacher's employment is psid to a recruiter as his finder's fee?

Re Beijing New Youth School

Facts are best analyzed & hence understood, being a part of the team or the system.
I have been a team member of the Beijing New youth school for an year. Therefore I could better depict its working.
It is quite a challenging task to deal with diversified nationalities in an organization.

People come with different cultures & varied mindsets. Every one's expectations are different.
I must appreciate Beijing New youth school for its being forerunner in the field. It has set the stone of multi-national culture in the town - Pinggu.

Now coming to the complaints, described in this thread, I would state the tussle between the employers and employees is a universal phenomenon. It's not only an all times hot topic, but also does cross the boundaries.

The employers rights are reserved to fire employees for a reason. And the employees are always free to express their anger. It doesn't mean to condemn the organization by knowing one side, only.
