Resume and Interview Tips

How College Graduates Should Approach a Job Interview
By:Roger Clark

After you have graduated the college, finding a job will seem a difficult and very demanding task. Yet, approaching an interview in the right manner can help you surpass even the most experienced and skilled persons. But this required special training and preparation.

A college graduate will certainly have less chances of getting a well-paid job then a person which has previous experience in the field. In order to compensate for this drawback, a college graduate will have to come up with a more consistent list of skills and a more convincing way of displaying its qualifications. Thus, you will have to convince the employer that you need this job with the tools you have at your disposal, which are your education, the skills you have acquired during the past years, your current attitude and your future plans.

Each and every detail matters when you are attending a job interview. This is why you will have to make a good impression from the first time you put your feet in the room. Make sure that you wear the perfect clothes, which are both comfortable and good looking. This way, you will feel more confident in yourself and be able to face the tension. Look the interviewer in his eyes and smile him nicely. This way, you will show the employer that you are good in dealing with tensioned situations and can work very well under stress.

When you are answering the interviewer's questions, make sure that you keep your interventions short and concise, yet without sacrificing the important details. Think about the fact that you will have a limited time at your disposal to convince the interviewer that you are the perfect person for the job. If you are asked to give examples about the way you have acted in certain situations, use the period when you were student as example or give details about the related projects you have completed successfully. Each piece of experience you can share would do great in such situation.

Also, back each one of your statements with arguments. If you are asked if your education prepared you for this career, a simple "yes" will not be enough. You will have to give details about the way in which the education you received helped you develop certain skills, needed in the job you are applying for. You must convince the employer of all your qualifications, so do not spare any important piece of information to do that.

College graduates may have a drawback in they lack of experience, but they represent the new generation and its potential. Make sure you take advantage of your youth, plans and education to convince that you are the right person for the job.
