Resume and Interview Tips

Resume Objective Examples For Your Use
By:Derek Todom

Instead of giving you a few Resume Objective Examples the focus of this article is to break down the objective statement into different parts so you can utilize the current information that you have in your resume to construct a very professional and unique objective statement.

In 2007 the job market is tight and, companies are as picky as ever. That is because there still isn't a large surplus of jobs. Also, the current work demands in most companies is not to the point that you will see a corporate recruiter call you based on a few buzzwords that you have included in your resume. Those days are long gone! Also, more and more companies are abandoning the process of optical scanning resumes into a database so they can search for keywords. This means the method of adding various acronyms and popular phrases as was suggested just a few years ago is no longer an effective method. Now your resume will more than likely be reviewed by a human in the form of a corporate recruiter or hiring manager. Because of this fact it is now more important than ever to include something towards the top of your resume that just reaches out and grabs that humans attention. In most cases the thing that you use to accomplish this is an objective statement.

A go objective statement will consist of 3 parts:

1. An opening giving a summery of your experience.

Example: Engineer with 12 years of experience working in the IT industry.

2. A statement that lets the employer know what you are seeking.

Example: Seeking a challenging position working with java code in a development environment.

3. A closing sentence that highlights your overall fit to the position your applying for:

Example: I am well versed in project management and thrive on the challenge of making a deadline on time!

So with these 3 Resume Object Examples you have the finished product:

Objective: Engineer with 12 years of experience working in the IT industry. Seeking a challenging position working with java code in a development environment. I am well versed in project management and thrive on the challenge of making a deadline on time.

Stick that small, eye catching paragraph at the top of your resume right below your name and address. This accomplishes 3 things that are important to getting your resume in the final sort pile. It allows the employer with a glance to see how your experience matches up with the job they have advertised. It also lets the reader know what you are looking for. Finally it allows you to give a one sentence selling pitch. With the realistic estimate of about 15 seconds being the amount of time the recruiter or hiring manager will actually view your resume I am sure you can start to understand how important an objective statement is to your entire job seeking strategy.
