Free Resume Writing Tips - 5 Tips to Get You On Track
By:David Raybould

Looking for free resume writing tips? Youve come to the right place. Writing a good resume is nowhere near as tough as you may think, so sit back, relax, and let these free resume writing tips solve all your resume issues!

Free Resume Writing Tip 1-
K.I.S.S.-Keep It Simple, Stupid- In these days of hi tech computers and powerful word processing software, it can be very tempting to go overboard and design a really elaborate resume, complete with pretty columns and page breaks. Unfortunately, a modern day employer is usually so pressed for time that they will welcome the simpler resumes with open arms. Anything that is even slightly more complicated in its layout is likely to be cast aside. You want to keep the layout simple, and let the content impress them instead.

Free Resume Writing Tip 2-
Tailor your resume to the job. That way it will be like you are speaking directly to the employer, and it will always be more successful than adopting a more is more approach and just sending the same old resume through to every single employer.

Free Resume Writing Tip 3-
Tick all the boxes. Before you start writing your tailor made resume, run through all the job specification details and criteria you can find. This will give you a real idea of what kind of person they are looking for to fill the role, and you can then go about drawing up a resume painting yourself as exactly the person they are looking for.

Free Resume Writing Tip 4-
Use interesting language. People learn to write resumes at school, and because we all learn the same way, most people still write them exactly the same way. Heres a newsflash for you-if you write your resume like most people, it will blend in with most people. In a world where you have the employers eye for 20 seconds MAX, youd better learn to stand out fast. So instead of using the same tired old words and phrases that everyone does, go through your resume and reword it. Use snappy phrases, make it exciting. It doesnt matter if you have to sit there with a thesaurus, the important thing is that the end result is different and interesting.

Free Resume Writing Tip 5-
Get to the point. As youve learned, employers and recruiters are tremendously busy people. If you can get your strengths and achievements across to them in a more concise way than your competitors, chances are you will get asked to the interview. People want the things they want as fast as possible and with the minimum of fuss-an employer is no exception!

Writing a resume is really not as hard as people make out-its about working smart, not working hard!
