Resume and Interview Tips

How to Get Your Resume Noticed
By:Julia Regan

It is a very competitive job market out there today, which is more of a reason than ever for you to make sure that your resume gets noticed. All too often, people create a resume that they feel is accurate and flattering to them and use it to send off for jobs And just as often, they never hear from the place of employment as their resume is lost in the shuffle. With the unemployment numbers rising and competition for jobs fierce, it is more important than ever to have a resume that will be noticed by the prospective employer and not just tossed into a pile.

Not only do you need a professional quality resume that states all of the pertinent information but stands out among the rest, you also need to have a professional quality cover letter to go along with it. If you are not sending out high quality cover letters and resumes when you apply for jobs, you are likely to get passed right over. Like it or not, those who have the most unique yet professional resume and cover letter are much more likely to get called in for a job interview - even if they do not have the same qualifications as someone who has more experience but presents a ho hum resume.

Most employers will have a great deal of response when they put an ad in the paper or online for a job. So much so that they often do not get to all of the resumes and cover letters. Like anyone else, their sights will fall on the resumes and cover letters that appear to be the most attractive. This does not mean that they are gimmicky as this may be deemed to be unprofessional. Unique in a positive way means that they resume stands out and also is presented in a professional light. When presented with a cover letter of the same quality, it will be hard for an employer to pass it up. Most employers will want to know the person behind such a stellar resume and cover letter and will call them in for an interview. The job candidate who presents themselves in such a way already has a head on other prospects who may have sent in run of the mill documents that did not stand out.

The best way to get your resume noticed is to have a professional resume company create it for you along with a cover letter. In the market today, it pays to stand out above the crowd. When you have the right resume and cover letter, you can do just that.
