By:Mohd Shah Hazali

First of all, to let you know, it's about not more than 15 to 45 seconds the employer has each time to look at your resume during the initial screening, which is why it is a must to make your resume memorable. Here the opportunities to show off your skills with page design using special features, appropriate headings and organizational schemes to make your resume look outstanding!

Do you think making a resume is as simple as its words? Actually, designing a resume is like designing a newspaper advertisement. If you read the newspaper, have you noticed how some words of the advertisement jump out at you? For example, they may be in bold type, or bullet to pull out your attention. The newspaper advertisement itself designed to create an immediate impression in small space.

Simply to say, like a newspaper ad, the resume must impress a reader in a short amount of space. After all, you are designing an ad and you are selling yourself, your skills, and your expertise to a prospective employer. You want your most impressive qualifications to get your employer attention during his or her first ten-second glance at your resume.

This is a several guide how long your resume would be:

-High school student or newly graduated college student - one page long.

-People with several years of impressive work experience - two pages resume (acceptable)

-Electronic resume (emails) - may be longer, for they generally scanned by computer program for initial screening and not by a human being.

Then, part of the design strategy is you have to consider how to make the resume looks. Of course it should look symmetrical and balanced. White spacing allowing ample margins results in a resume that is uncluttered and easy read. Having the special features in your resume such as boldface, underlining, italicizing, CAPITALIZING, bullets or any other sign such asterisks (*) make important information stand out. Headings should be easy to spot. Use an easy-to-read font (commonly example Times New Roman or Arial) in 10- or 12-point type.

So that, you just realize that several special features that you should put in your resume. But be careful then, too many special features will make your resume look cluttered and busy.
