Resume and Interview Tips

How to Write a College Resume
By:Pete Miguel

One of the tasks every student will have to face is knowing how to write a college resume. This can be difficult for several reasons. First, your career goals might not be as defined as you wanted it yet. Second, you might not be sure which industry you want to enter or it may be a different one from your background so far. Third, you may not have a lot of professional experience to back your goals up.

Knowing how to write a college resume begins by acknowledging these difficulties and working around them. You must simply know how to present your experiences so far and which you should emphasize. For instance, instead of forcing a career goal into your resume and misleading yourself as well as your reader, you may altogether omit it. You should instead focus on the qualifications you have, emphasizing your actual value as employee. You should include as much facts as you can, from awards received to seminars attended to personal traits.

Make full use of your academic background when you write a college resume. Especially if you have no work experience, your educational commitment and achievements are the potential employer's strongest basis for considering you for a position. Include all seminars and workshops you participated in. Even if these are not directly related to the job you want, they demonstrate your motivation and industry. You should however focus on what skills were developed in these engagements, such as working with groups or leadership, and not only on the topics that were involved. Summer jobs, internships and part-time jobs are also valuable. These are opportunities for you to demonstrate your ability to work in a professional setting. When you write a college resume, take advantage of phrasing job descriptions by focusing on skills and not just the experience.

Seeking the help of a professional resume maker should never be a big hindrance for you, just to get a perfect resume of your own.
