How to Write a Resume Tutorial
By:Jennifer L. Potts

A tutorial is basically a set of instructions that helps someone learn a certain process. It explains the various parts, how they function and how to use them effectively. For a resume, a tutorial explains the necessary sections to include, how to write each one and their order. Information about formatting should also be included.

Create a cover page. It should explain the basic objective of the tutorial, teaching the reader how to write a resume. You might also include information on your qualifications. If your experience includes working as a professional resume writer, the cover page is the place to say this.

Decide on the sections to include. Sections for how to write a resume might include formatting; writing a clear objective; listing your professional experience, including education and more.

Add a table of contents after your cover page. Include the names of the sections you plan to include and their page number. You may need to modify the table of contents once you have finished writing.

Fill in the information for the sections you chose. Include easy-to-follow, how-to instructions for each section. Use active voice throughout. Also, use short paragraphs and incorporate bulleted lists whenever appropriate. You want to make the tutorial as easy to read and follow as possible.

Include a sample resume at the end. It should include all the sections and formatting suggestions you included in the tutorial.
