How to Write a Simple Resume
By:Charlie Gaston

Most job seekers understand the importance of having a good resume. For new professionals entering the job market, writing a good resume can be a daunting task. Read more to learn how you can write a simple, yet effective, resume to get you the job of your dreams.

Include contact information: type your first and last name, address, phone number, and email address.

Write a short sentence stating the purpose of the resume. This statement will identify the type of job, industry or career you wish to pursue.

Write a brief profile. This information will profile your general education, training and management level. It should function as a bullet point outline of what the reader will learn from the resume. For example, "Master' s degree; Management Experience, Bilingual". You may also include notable skills such as "Excellent customer service".

List your education from the highest earned degree/certification. If you have obtained a Master's or Bachelor's degree, you can omit your high school diploma. Provide the name of each institution, program of study, GPA and the date for each earned degree.

List your seven-year work history, starting with the most recent. Include the name of the employer, position held, salary (if requested) and responsibilities held.

List your volunteer experience. This can be truncated to reflect the three most significant. Include volunteer experience that required strong leadership, decision making or problem solving skills. Include the name of the non-profit organization, position held and relevant dates.
