Resume and Interview Tips

MBA Resume Tips
By:Alex Ramirez

Applying to get into graduate school can be an overwhelming feeling for many students, but having your resume organized and in the proper format is the first step to being recognized by a school's admission board. Following basic Master of Business Administration, or MBA, resume tips can make your work appear more polished and make you ready for a higher level of education.

Resume Objective
Although it's not always required, it's ideal to include a resume objective section in your resume. The resume objective is your chance to discuss your personal aspirations and what you hope to achieve. This is your chance to stand out to the admissions staff because it can separate you from other applicants. However, although the section is about your personal aspirations, try to keep the information business-oriented and about what you hope to achieve in your career with an MBA.

Template
Format your resume using a basic template, which will enable reviewers -- who have to review hundreds, or even thousands, of applications -- to maneuver throughout the document quickly and efficiently. Organizing your information in a standard way ensures that the review can focus on the content and not be distracted by oddly placed sections or uncommon fonts.

Length
Unless you have more than 5 years of work experience, your application should only be about a page. Those with a storied work history can see their resumes expand to two pages, but it should never be more than a couple of pages. Important information is usually not highlighted properly or is overlooked completely in resumes that are too long.

Printing
Print your MBA resume on heavy-weight card-stock paper when you are finished editing it. Printing on nicer paper gives your resume a more professional look. If you don't have access to a printer that can utilize high-quality or thicker paper, visit a printing store.
