Resume and Interview Tips

Interviewing Techniques Interviewers Uses
By:M Wentz

During an interview, the interviewee will be assessed in terms of confidence and ability to react to difficult questions. Being an interviewer is not an easy task because you will need to know a few interview techniques in order to successfully choose the right interviewees to work for your company.

The most important technique is asking interview questions. Basically, interviewers will start off with asking the interviewees to introduce themselves. That is acceptable because it is something compulsory anyway. The key is all about the questions that you are going to ask. Always remember to ask quality questions. They do not necessarily mean difficult and tricky questions. You are not a hunter trying to set a trap to catch rabbits anyway. Ask questions that require a lot of thinking and those which will involve a lot of the interviewees' own opinions. You can also include situations to test their decision making skills, give them a situation in which they are required to solve problems so that you can assess their decision making skills.

Another technique is to look at their resumes. Imagine you are to interview a hundred of interviewees and all of them are of the almost equal standards. They can answer your questions well, speak fluently and are equally good in decision making. What are you going to do? Well, you can always look through their resumes. By doing so, you can see their enthusiasm and assess their passion towards the job. If it is prepared well and looks neat that everything looks so tidy and organized, he or she may be very passionate towards the job. When you are very enthusiastic about the job, you will put a lot of effort in practicing your interview and also carefully prepare your documents, especially resume. If the resume gives you a feeling that the interviewee does it just for the sake of handing it in to you, then you will know where his or her passion is up to.

Last but not least, using Facebook is also a very useful technique to assess your interviewees. Facebook is so popular that almost everyone has it! So, it is very convenient to just add them up and you will know what do they do when they are free or how do they interact with their friends. This can be applied when you are interviewing people for important posts like managers because you will only have to select the most suitable one to have that post. Facebook is useful because generally people express their true emotions on Facebook, especially updating their statuses and also commenting with their friends. From there, you can see how well can he or she communicate with others or how many friends do they have? How is their personalities in this social networking website?
