How to Write Mini Resume Business Card

A mini resume on a business card is a common and effective tool used to network to find a job. The mini resume fits on a back on a standard size business card and has just enough space to hook prospective employers on your resume. The business card can also be attached to a regular resume to give the hiring manger easy contact information and a reminder of your application.

Use a standard size business card layout. Use a heavy card stock that can be printed on both side. Avoid using card stock that is glossy on one side and dull on the other for a mini resume.

Add contact information as you would a regular business card. Makes sure to include full name, email address, and phone number. Because a resume on a business card in not as formal as a regular resume, address in not required in order to protect privacy. Adding a a city or state to your business may be helpful, but not necessary.

Write your mini resume on the back side of the card. Write a brief highlight of your career. Do not try to fit everything on your card or it will be to difficult to read. Keep the font size and type the same as the front of the business card. Write all the mini resume in a easy to read format. Using bullets to separate information is suggested.

Take your mini resumes on a business card with you to networking events, career fairs, and other business affairs.

Enclose your resume business card in thank you cards sent after a interview.

The mini resume card is also called a JIST card. The idea was born out of a small Indiana based company (JIST Publishing). JIST means Job Information and Seeking Training.
