Jobs without degrees - quotes
By:jp

I find that most people earn what they want to earn.

It's not what you make , it's what you can keep,

Learn a trade, make money right outta the gate and no student loans to pay back. The times they are a chang'in my friends.

Union steamfitter (same as brother odoyle post). I'm with local 488 out of Edmonton and 40hrs a week gets me $100,000, 50hrs a week brings in $138,000...add a few double time saturdays and yer bust'in $150,000. Average wage for a dentist in Canada is $140,000.

Fifty thousand...that's almost minimum wage. I earned that in a retail position 10 years ago and I couldn't afford a car....today you could barely eat on that!

Forget the degrees. You go to college and university to party and spend a lot of money on books and study to get a diploma to nowhere....unless you are a fortunate few that get a job in your field well congrats, now have fun paying off your student loan. Learn a trade, work and make great money and you can go anywhere you want in the world since your skill is valuable everywhere!!! White collar university and college graduates can't go all over the world without learning another language...so once again you are screwed....$50K is a start....and you can work on your own real fast too. Year 1, down payment on a house. Year 5....downpayment on second house. University grad year 5...still paying off student loan lol

This is very misleading. No Degree - yes - but it's not dummy "labour" either. There are skills to be learned through apprenticeships with these trades and some do require in depth schooling.

Union Steamfitter here! $100 000 k is a slow year for me!! UA Local 552 100th Anniversary this year!!

My Dad is a Plumbing Contractor. He has a 12th Grade Education. He has a Sister and Brother-N-Law, with a PHD and a Master's. He makes more than BOTH of them put together! Forget school DUMMIES! Put down those books and pick up that pipe wrench! LOL!

I don't have a degree and I make that x2, and oil guys here in Alberta make more then me, so 50gs kind of suck, sorry.

Hate to burst the authors bubble but on average there are way more and way better paying jobs with a diploma than a degree. Most of my friends who went to university are either unemployed or working jobs that have nothing to do with their degrees, most of my friends who went to college/technical school have a steady, full time job and make well over 50k a year.

I did 3 years of college, graduated with honours and moved onto work in Marketing at a law firm. I was making $35,000k/yr. I couldn't handle all the corporate BS and eventually quit.

$50,000.00 is poverty wages noe. As a carpenter over 14 years ago the pay was in the mid K 60's
