Good Places to Stay in Manila
By:Tam White

Manila is one of the most densely-populated cities in the world. According to the Philippines Department of Tourism, the city draws over 3 million visitors per year. Those looking for a good place to stay near the city's nightlife, shopping, historical sites or white-sand beaches will find no shortage of accommodations, from the simple to the opulent.

Jupiter Suites
Located on Jupiter Street, one of the most popular thoroughfares in the city, the Jupiter Suites hotel offers spacious rooms and a complimentary breakfast. Guests can visit the many spas, restaurants, clubs and bars that line Jupiter Street and are within walking distance of the hotel. Jupiter Suites is also a short distance from the Glorietta and Greenbelt Malls, two shopping centers that attract visitors from around the world.

Hotel H2O
The Hotel H2O opened in 2009 and has 147 rooms with views of the city or Manila Bay. One of the hotel's most prominent features is the aquarium-walled rooms that allow guests to view indigenous sea-life. Guests can dine on Malaysian cuisine at the on-site restaurant, Makansutra Asian Food Village, or sip drinks at the Club H2O Lounge. The Hotel H2O is on the same property as the Manila Ocean Park, a marine-themed entertainment complex.

Hyatt Hotel and Casino Manila
The Hyatt Hotel and Casino Manila has over 450 rooms, a world-class spa and the largest casino in the city. The hotel has several on-site eateries including Lili, which serves Chinese cuisine, and the Market Cafe, an all-you-can-eat buffet-style restaurant that offers both western and Asian cuisines. The hotel has a gym, swimming pool and exercise classes. The Hyatt is within walking distance to several malls, and is close to the Cultural Center of the Philippines, which offers live theater, dance and music.

The Manila Hotel
The Manila Hotel was completed in 1912 and became one of the city's first luxury hotels. Visitors to the centrally-located hotel have included luminaries such as General Douglas MacArthur, the Beatles and champion boxer Muhammad Ali. The hotel is adjacent to the famous ruins of Intramuros, and is directly in front of Rizal Park, home to the National Museum of the Filipino People and the Orchidarium and Butterfly Pavilion. It is also near the massive SM Mall of Asia, featuring an indoor ice-skating rink and IMAX theater.
