Travel in the Philippines

Affordable Vacations in the Philippines
By:Jennifer Hench

Located in Southeast Asia, amongst the waters of the western Pacific Ocean, the Philippines are a collection of smaller islands that together make up the Republic of the Philippines. Beaches, major cities, mountains and tropical rain forests can all be found in the Philippines, making the area a draw for a diverse group of travelers. Vacations to the Philippines can be affordable when price comparing is done prior to making reservations.

Atrium Hotel
Starting at $53 per night, as of November 2010, the Atrium Hotel provides visitors with an affordable option when traveling to the Philippines. Situated in the heart of Manila, this low-key property provides guests with a central location, affording ample opportunity to explore the diverse areas surrounding the city. A total of 147 guest rooms are available, and additional on-site services include a casino, restaurant, business center and spa services. Dining is available 24 hours a day at the restaurant and lounge located on the 15th floor of the hotel. The small casino provides a brief reprieve for guests via the 100 slot machines located on site. The modern appeal of the hotel is suitable for those traveling both in and around the business districts of Manila.

Boracay Beach Club
The Boracay Beach Club, located along the White Beach on Boracay Island, provides guests with a relaxing and affordable vacation destination for those seeking surf and sand. A 30-minute plane ride from the main area of the Philippines, Manila, whisks visitors to the small island of Boracay. During the low season, running from the beginning of July through the end of September, rooms start at $80 per night as of November 2010. On-site amenities include beach access, an outdoor swimming pool, outdoor cabanas for guest use and full-service dining. Additional highlights of the hotel, making the trip even more affordable, include complimentary Internet access and free shuttle service to and from the airport. Routinely, the hotel offers package deals to further lower the cost of a vacation to the resort. Inclusive packages providing food, drinks and services can be found throughout the year.

Kalinaw Resort
On the small island of Siargao, the Kalinaw Resort is a charming retreat that offers guests the opportunity to enjoy and explore the more undiscovered side of the Philippines. Due to the location of the island in comparison to the tides of the Pacific Ocean, the area is best known for having surfing conditions ideal for those seeking such adventure. Known within the surfing community as Cloud 9, even those that do not partake in surfing can find hours of enjoyment watching others tackle the waves. This small family-owned and operated resort features personalized service set amongst a lush and low-key setting. As of November 2010, room rates start at around $63 per night, with breakfast included to all guests each morning of their stay. To further keep the costs down when staying here, the resort offers a variety of amenities and activities that are free for all guests. On-site dining, beach access and hammocks spread around the grounds all give guests plenty to do for next to nothing in cost.
