I am english and have been married to a man born and bred in the philippines, even after 33 years of marriage cultural dfifficulties cause us problems. It is easy to make allowances at the beginning but when the novelty wears off, and you want to live your life in the way that you have been brought up, the differences can cause a lot of conflict. It isnt all plain sailing, requires a lot of give and take, with the westerner doing most of the giving, despite what everyone else thinks.
