The University of Valencia decided at the end of 1998 to create a centre for the teaching of languages. The Centro de Idiomas (Language Center) of the University of Valencia (CdiUV) was established as a limited liability company, whose only partner is the University itself.

The CdI-UV offers its service for the teaching of languages to those who form a part of the University, formed by 45.000 undergradutates, 8.000 graduates and 3.300 faculty staff. It is also open to anyone not belonging to the institution who wants to learn a language using a special formula based on professional dedication and quality teaching.
