Do you have the desire to be successful in life? If you are reading this, then the answer is probably yes. Because you desire to be successful, I’m sure you have asked yourself how other successful people became that way. And, if you are like most people, you have probably analyzed it to the point where you no longer remember why you are analyzing them anymore.

Of course, it’s great to learn from other people who have become successful because they have the wisdom, experience, and knowledge that you need to become successful as well. The great thing about looking back on these successful people is to realize that when they began, they were just like you.

I think Ralph Waldo Emerson did an excellent job of explaining this when he said, ‘Every artist was first an amateur.’ You see, you have to start somewhere, just like every other successful person has. They were all amateurs at some point in their life. The reason they became successful is because they gained the experience and expertise of a professional.

Two things contribute to your moving from an amateur, or from a lesser place than where you want to be, to becoming successful. The first is consistency, and the second is time. Amateurs consistently work on their skill and then over time it develops to a point where people begin to see the experience and perfection of their skill.

If you want to be successful, no matter what it is or where you are in life, stay consistent and keep with it. These two keys will help you to move on from being an amateur to becoming someone that is well respected in your field.
