Building Self Esteem

For some it means the awareness of their own importance, their value to others and their place in the world. It also means having the character to take responsibility and be accountable for ourselves and our actions toward others. This responsibility cannot be imposed from outside sources. Responsibility in it’s true sense is entirely voluntary. We all have to make choices and be accountable for their consequences.

Self love comes first.

“Life has passed me by”. “Time seems to be running out on me”. These are usually the lamentations of lonely people with low self esteem who believes that happiness comes from someone else.

They usually don’t recognize that their unhappiness comes from within and that their real enemy is the lack of positive feelings for themselves. If you don’t feel good about you, you can’t feel good about anything or anybody else.

They believe that all they need is that exciting man or that gorgeous woman to save them from boredom and desperation and to make their lives fulfilled. But you have to realize that special person you’re searching for is also looking for someone to excite him or her to enhance his/her life not for a needy person who can’t make it alone.

Learning how to love and appreciate yourself is a necessary prerequisite to getting close to others.

It is the key to intimacy.

The very moment you begin to feel good about yourself, you will start to project positive feelings to other people. They will suddenly sense the love and positivity with in you and they will be attracted to you.

People who like themselves and feel happy about life , give off an irresistible energy that makes them attractive. Those who work hard at making the most of themselves give off sparks of self confidence that are irresistible to most people.

So start off by putting yourself on a get-excited-about-being-me regimen and make enhancing your life the top priority. Consequently improving your self esteem.

Taking Action.

Achieving more towards our potential and recognizing the achievements are important ways to build self esteem. Taking action nurtures character and develop a pride that arises from healthy self respect and hard work. The first step in taking action is the hardest the first time than the second time. But it’s the only way to chip away at insecurities and break free.

No one can just cruise along and expect to make a positive change. It takes a quantum leap of energy while your head is trying to sort things out and make a decision, taking physical action is one of the simplest and most direct ways to take a step towards building self esteem.
