Our readiness to succeed in achieving our desired goal can be predicated on our ability to answer to the question of "why" we want to reach the goal. The underlying reasons, beliefs and values are meant to form a great chunk of our core motivating factor and are the driving force for ultimate release of our self potentials and personality. It means that basically our attitudes and zeal to succeed are the external expression of what is going on internally which could have evolved out of hurt, needs or aspirations.

It is true that almost everyone would want to be successful and make big money daily, weekly, monthly and even yearly. It is however astounding the number of people who stammer and bumble before giving the answer to the question of 'why'. You will discover in such cases the answers are so generic it could apply to anyone just because they made them up on the spot.

For instance, most people will tell you they wanted to earn as much as a million dollars a year which is fine and should be rightly desired. But ask them "why," the answer is something like: [long pause] "uh--, uh--, uh--, well, I want to have lots of money and, mmm, mmm, uhhh, well, I want to live a good life, travel around the world, a----nd help a lot of peop---le." From all indications no one would have a high degree of confidence in predicting that such persons would ever accomplish their desired goal.

On the other hand, if same question could have this kind of answer, "[no pause] I am starting a family soon and I don't want my kids to end up in rehabs so I need to plan for their future early enough". Or, "my parents are getting along in years and they really don't want to end up living in a nursing home. They don't have the finances to make that happen but with a million dollars a year in income I would have enough financial resources to hire round the clock help to watch over them in their own home. At the same time, that type of income would allow me to take early retirement from my job and fulfill a dream I've always had to travel and donate to the poor people of the world" Then one would, without doubt, qualify such persons with a very good chance of meeting their goal because they recognize and acknowledge why they want to achieve the goal and it is direct and very specific.

To build the right attitude, we must try to discover our "why" if we genuinely want to achieve our desired destination. Attitude comes from expectations and expectations comes from beliefs, rational motives and values. We should be convinced of the reason for our dreams before developing the passion to chase after it. For what shall it profit a man if he chases after something without cause. Dream the reasons 'why' before you chase after your ultimate desire, never chase before you dream!
