New Year's Resolutions - How To Make Sure You Keep Them

New Years resolutions are the like the old saying, "made with the best of intentions but more often than not doomed to failure.

It’s easy to make a resolution but so difficult to keep them. Bad habits often have a way of burrowing themselves deeply into our daily lives and most new years resolutions are doomed to failure.

At New Years, we have the opportunity to make resolutions, and give ourselves a fresh start and improve our lives.

How do we keep them though? let's find out.

The Desyatnikov Method

Igor Desyatnikov, a modern thinker, businessman, television personality, pop singer and now international actor, has developed over the years a powerful method for helping to achieve goal fulfillment.

If the goal is to keep a good New Years resolution, the method can work well

The method involves:

• Clear definition of goal to be reached, based in reality
• Honest and sincere self-analysis
• Forward planning
• Making the goal public
• Forming goal alliances
• Creating the success environment

These steps, when applied to a New Years resolution can be a powerful tool to not only keeps the resolution, but to put some real order into your affairs.

The success you will attain with your resolution will also spread to other areas of your life.

Many people do resolutions as others do to and then think it’s ok to break them as they are not alone but that won’t help you longer term!

Applying the Desyatnikov Method to the New Years Resolution

Before you make the resolution, you must consider if your resolution is really feasible. Stopping to smoke, losing weight, clearing a bad habit, are feasible.

Walking on the moon is even feasible, but is it a New Years resolution?

Then, once you have your resolution, you must then honestly and sincerely examine yourself.

Ask why you have the bad habit, why you are overweight, or still smoking. This part of the Desyatnikov Method is crucial.

You must be brutally honest with yourself. If you are, and can discover the “whys” then you have a real chance of keeping your resolution.

Now its time to tell everyone (who is interested) about your goal, or in this case, New Years resolution. Make it public. Friends and interested parties may be a source of strength to keep your resolution as well.

If you have decided to lose weight, find others who are on diets.

Discuss diet strategy and so on. If you have decided to quit smoking, find other who have recently quit. Form your resolution alliances.

Finally, if you really keep your New Years resolution, use the last step in the Desyatnikov Method by creating a success environment.

Using the stopping to smoke resolution, you can make your home “smoke free” and if others wish to smoke around you, send them outside.

Do not provide ash trays, and become an expert on the effects of breathing second hand smoke. Create your success environment.

Keep those closer to you who do not smoke, and ask those who do smoke to respect you, and so on. Your environment is crucial to your keeping your resolution.

Good luck in the New Year, and remember to use the Desyatnikov Method if you really wish to keep that New Years resolution.
