Give Yourself the Gift of Forgiveness
By:Hope Wilbanks

Are you having trouble forgiving yourself for something you did in the past? The one thing that often stands in the way of a person’s success is their past. Giving yourself the gift of forgiveness is the best thing you could ever do.

Patty was a divorced mother. For most of her life, she was a homemaker. Patty married her husband at a young age and started having children before she’d even reached adulthood.

Over time, Patty grew resentful of her children. She loved them, but she begrudged the direction her life had taken. She began taking out her anger on her children, pushing them away bit by bit. Eventually, her marriage suffered the toll of her anger as well.

Many years later, Patty realized the effects of her choices. Her relationship with her children bore scars of the years of resentment and anger.

She worked hard, rebuilding those broken relationships. Even though her children forgave her, Patty could not forgive herself. She lived in a world of self-loathing because of it. No matter how many times her children told her they loved her, Patty always felt unworthy.

If only Patty realized that the forgiveness she needed was from herself. See, Patty’s past had so consumed her that she was unable to accept love from her family.

If you, like Patty, are haunted by your past, you can put an end to it today. Forgive yourself. Pardon yourself and allow those chains to fall free at your feet. Give yourself the gift of forgiveness today.
