Every now and again take a good look at something not made with hands-a mountain, a star, the turn of a stream. There will come to you wisdom and patience and solace and, above all, the assurance that you are not alone in the world. -Sidney Lovett
My bed is near a window. When I pull back the curtains, I can see the stars at night. If I've had a particularly stressful day, I start counting the stars while enjoying their twinkle against the night sky. It's as though they are smiling and winking. It gives me a sense of peace and before long, I'm off into dreamland. After a restful night's sleep, I'm ready to jump out of bed and seize the day.
Behind our home is a wooded area with a creek at the bottom of the hill that winds its way through the neighborhood and eventually empties into Irondequoit bay. It's a great place to go hiking. The sound of flowing water makes me stop and listen more intently. It is so relaxing. After my hike, I am ready to go back inside to work.

Much of my inspiration comes from the successes of friends and colleagues. I make sure I meet with positive people on a regular basis, usually once a week. Whenever I plan one of these meetings, I look forward to getting up in the morning because I know I will soon be breaking bread and sharing ideas with dynamic decision makers. I have enjoyed some really great successes of my own by commiserating with cronies. Good friends are always ready to help one another.
Before jumping out of bed in the morning, I read a few quotes from a book I keep on my nightstand, followed by a plan of action. Those two activities first thing in the morning always keep me moving in a positive direction.
