The Power of Your Inner Circle
By:Honoree Corpron

One of the major reasons for a person’s failure to reach their goals and objectives is having a weak (or non-existent) inner circle. It seems most don't even realize the importance of having an "inner circle" … a strong, viable support system. When we are born, our "inner circle" is usually our parents and siblings. This support system provided us with the basics (food, clothing and shelter) until we could fend for ourselves. Psychological research shows that in addition to the basics, love and affection are needed or babies will simply "fail to thrive," and eventually, die. Tony Robbins uses this theory to correct people's perception if they complain a lack of love in their childhood....."If you're alive, it means someone must have loved you -- you would have died otherwise!"

As a successful professional, your inner circle is crucial to your future success. As you progress to higher levels and set larger goals, who you surround yourself with is vital in terms of your achievement in each area of your business. You need to create what Robbins calls "the Seventh Power" -- a group of people you trust implicitly; who believe in you and continuously set higher standards for you while supporting you exactly where you are currently.

Who is your Seventh Power? Who is daily asking you a higher quality of question? It is sometimes easy to rest on our laurels, become comfortable and complacent. Complacency is death rattle! Find and surround yourself with those whose positive attitude constantly elevates you to a higher level, and whose questions constantly help you to achieve a higher level of success. These folks will honor and celebrate your accomplishments, and challenge you to continually raise the bar for more future success.

Studies show your income level is in direct proportion to the salaries of your 8-10 closest friends. Want to make more money? Create deep, meaningful relationships with those who earn more. You might remember when Martina Navratilova was the number 1 ranked women’s tennis player in the world. I’m convinced its because she trained with other top ranking players – men, that is! Her training consisted of playing with men whose skills and stamina were at a higher level than hers, thereby helping her to reach for higher and higher levels of competency and success. Her competition simply couldn’t keep up. I know in your business if other firms couldn’t keep up, you’d be thrilled because your bottom line would show it!

Be cognizant of who has your ear. There is always an exchange of energy between two people … if you’re a level 10 and I’m a level 8, together we’ll both end up at 9. I win, you lose. If we’re both at level 10, the synergy of this relationship will create a level 25. I don’t know about you, but I choose 25 over 9 every single time! You’ll want to phase out all of the 8s in your life, and create as many other Level 10 relationships as possible … you’ll definitely be glad you did!
