Motivation Tips

7 Creative Ways to Get and Stay Motivated
By:Stephanie Treasure

1) Get rid of clutter! The Feng Shui practitioners and enthusiasts have always warned about the dangers of clutter in your life. Feelings of confusion, sluggishness and overwhelm all tend to creep into our bodies when we are in a cluttered environment. Clean out the closet, tidy up the bookshelves, throw away almost empty perfume bottles and most importantly, clear your workspace. You can set a timer for 15 minute intervals so you don't get lost in nostalgia while you are getting clutter-free. Once you have cleared the clutter you should begin to think more clearly and be ready to face your challenges, projects or other situation head-on.

2) Dress up. If you are in sales or work at home, dress up during your work hours. Dress as if you were going to a 9 to 5 or business presentation. Once you look the part, you will act the part and will attract the clients or leads you need for your business.

3) Calculate the financial result of your projects. Sit down and calculate the financial outcome of your planned activities. With that dollar amount in mind, you will be motivated to roll up your sleeves and get to work.

4) Get an representational picture of your 'Why' and keep it with you always. If your 'why' is to build your dream house. Get a picture of what that might look like and post pictures of it in your workspace, on your computer wallpaper, on your car dashboard, bathroom mirror.

5) Get up an hour early to visualize. Establish a morning ritual of visualizing the outcome of your efforts. Visualize yourself achieving your goals. Craft your future. Then spend a few minutes planning your day in alignment with your master plans to achieve your goals.

6) Reward Yourself. Determine your milestones along the way to achieving your goals and assign rewards for each one. You don't have to splurge either. It can be as simple as a manicure, if its not something you do regularly, a book you have been dying to read or a quick weekend getaway. The reward has to be something that excites you and motivates you to work towards each milestone.

7) Motivate others! Give a pep talk to a friend, family member or colleague who is feeling unmotivated or unable to overcome a challenging situation. If you don't know anyone who needs a motivational pep talk, write an article and submit it to article directories, local newspaper or trade magazine. The exposure will be good for you and most importantly the therapy from the experience will be good for you.
