Fun - Include it on Your 'To Do' List
By:Dorothy M. Neddermeyer, PhD

What do you want to experience more of? This is a good question to ask yourself as you contemplate what needs to be done this day. All too often, you make a 'To Do' list that is filled with items that are necessary to sustain and support the lifestyle you want, however, the routine mundane tasks in life only bring a modicum of satisfaction and fulfillment.

Today is an important day in your life. Today is a day that can never be experienced again or repeated. Therefore, I suggest that you put the important items on your 'To Do' list that fulfill your desire to have fun and joy; your need to be connected to yourself and others.

By including fun on your 'To Do' list you are prompting yourself to think about and plan on spending your time wisely. Last, but, not least including fun activities on your 'To Do' list allows you to reward yourself for a job completed - reward yourself for a job well done.

A system of achievement and reward (fun) adds a checks and balances system that will help you to live happier, healthier and stay productive much longer than others.

What would bring fun and joy into your life? What could you do to bring fun and joy into somebody else's life? Notice if you feel more alive, more excited and enthusiastic when you include fun on your 'To Do' list. Notice if you feel more alive, more excited and enthusiastic about completing each task before you engage in the fun activities. Notice if you feel more appreciative for having fun in your day.

When you treat yourself with the reward of fun activities, you will be more willing to put forth the effort needed to work toward your goals that stretch your abilities. Adding fun to your schedule makes each task more worthwhile.
