Motivation Tips

What Motivates You to Get Things Done?
By:Susan Kersley

What motivates you to get something done? You may be motivated by your culture, your social environment, your health and well being, your thoughts or your beliefs and values If you are stuck and not getting things done then ask yourself:

'What will happen if I do?'
'What will happen if I don't?'

and notice which of your answers encourages you the most. Some people are motivated by going towards pleasure and others by moving away from pain. When you feel motivated you are more likely to be an achiever.

Motivators are likely to have:

Desire for achievement
Desire for power
Desire for a sense of belonging

Some people are motivated by outside influences (e.g what other people say about what they are doing) and others are self-motivated, internally (they just know when they are doing the right thing) To be motivated you need:

An intense desire (or passion) to achieve something
To make the decision to do that thing
To be determined to do whatever is necessary
To have a clear focus on your goal and what you must do to achieve it
To know how you will move towards what you want - a sense of direction

Take a moment to imagine floating yourself forward towards the end of your life and think about how you would feel if you don't make the changes you want. Then from the present time take yourself to your future having done all the things you really want to do and achieve in your life. In order to achieve these what do you have to do now?
