Ways to Motivate Yourself: 5 Motivational Tips To Spark Your Enthusiasm
By:Jeremy Gislason

Day in and day out, you follow the same routine. You go to work, sign a few papers here and there, go for lunch, go for coffee, look at a few more papers and then go home.

As much as the work routine gives you a sense of stability and security, you feel deeply unmotivated. You feel tired about everything and excited about nothing. If you ask my opinion, it’s about time you find ways to motivate yourself.

A business cannot grow unless the people in it aren’t motivated enough. While you can’t help but feel a little defeated sometimes (business is slow, annual goals aren’t met, economic crisis is looming, etc.), you’ll also have to find ways to motivate yourself again. You’ll have to re-light that spark from within.

So how do you step up your game and take action? Read the motivational tips below to find out!

Motivational Tip # 1: Take Inspiration From Others.

There are a lot of outstanding individuals who have made a name for themselves in the business industry. Steve Jobs, Oprah Winfrey, Donald Trump… These guys have all made it big despite the obstacles they had to face.

When unmotivated, why not try to read about how they achieved their goals? Who knows? Maybe all you need is a little jolt of a fresh idea to get you moving. You can check out Forbes .com or even Time.com to see who are today’s movers and shakers.

There are also a lot of sites and blogs online that are dedicated to listing down famous people’s quotes. A simple as these quotes are, they can have quite a profound effect on your life. I guarantee that you’ll find a quote there you can gain inspiration from or even someone you may want to emulate.

Motivational Tip # 2: Think Positive

Positive thinking has been proven to have a powerful impact on a person’s life. While your environment might not be conducive to positive thinking, you can still be the lone light that shines in the office.

You are what you think. Your future is what you think it to be. If you keep on thinking about how deeply unmotivated you are and how you’ll never be able to achieve your goals, then that is most probably how you’ll end up.

I suggest you start with one statement at a time. Put up an inspirational quote or image on your wall or somewhere where you can see it everyday. Let that thought or image guide you week after week.

Motivational Tip # 3: Reward Yourself.

Goals can be difficult to see through to the end when you not motivated enough. The trick here is to promise yourself a reward once everything is over, or even when you achieve phase 1 of your goal.

Rewards can be as simple as a trip to your favorite coffee shop or something bigger like a financial reward. In terms of business, think about how achieving this goal can lead on to better and brighter investments. Or how the results of your hard work can lead to more opportunities with better clients. It’s a win-win situation.

Motivational Tip # 4: Seek Support

Misery loves company. No man is an island. Great minds think alike. I know what you’re thinking. You’ve heard all of this before. But why do you still tend to face your problems alone?

When you feel utterly defeated and unmotivated, perhaps you need to seek support from your fellow colleagues. They might be feeling just as lost as you are.

People, when they band together for a common cause, could easily find themselves motivated. Together, you all can work towards a common goal.

Motivational Tip # 5: Do Something Different

One of the ways to motivate yourself is by purposely skiving off from your usual routine. After all, isn’t routine one of the reasons why you’re so unmotivated in the first place?

You don’t have to do something drastic. A lot of people, for example, like to get out of bed an hour or two earlier than the usual. They arrive at their office earlier, too. You’d be surprised at how different everything looks.

If you find it difficult to wake up early in the morning, perhaps you can simply change your tie instead. Or do your hair in a different way. Do something that is different from your usual self. Perhaps all you need to motivate yourself is a new perspective on life.

There are plenty of ways to motivate yourself. They don’t always have to be grand or larger than life. They can be simple and almost mundane even. It all depends on what catches your attention. Some people find motivation in the details. Others find it in the bigger picture.

Whatever your motivation is, remember it. So the next time you find yourself in a slump, you no longer have to worry about how you’re going to up your game.
