2 more Puzzle Poems. "It" and "He Always lies to Me" - ESL Teacher Robin Day Lesson
By:Robin Day B.Sc. MSc. B.Ed. <cowboy4444@hotmail.com>

Here are two puzzle poems for ESL learners. I would give this work to 12 year olds if thay have dictionaries.

#1

2 big white teeth
A very long nose
Huge ears
Bigger than a car.
Can you spell it?

Students will spell "elephant" but the funny answer is "i t"

#2 Girls like this one....

He always lies to me.
Treats me bad
Very lazy
Selfish
Never thinks about me.
Bad bad bad
I love him.

(boyfriend)

These puzzle poems are like "The Orange" posted earlier this year. Challenge your students to write something similar. Ask them to work backwards from the answer. It is the best way to do this. You may have to demonstrate on the board.
