Childrens Educational Games - Fun Must Be in the Learning, and Learning Must Be in the Fun
By:George Mcnaney and Jan McNaney

Childrens educational games can be a great way to learn and they form an important part in your child's life.

Childrens educational games develop a child's mind to learn to think logically, and educational games can be a great way for your kids to have fun whilst learning. From now on the boring task of learning, especially during the long school holidays, can be as fun and entertaining as you are able to make it.

Here is a fun educational game for teaching the concept of time and achieving a goal.

Give your child a blank sheet of paper. Have an easy to read clock in view. Now tell them to draw as many different things as they can in say 5 minutes. Children able to write can jot down as many words as they can in the allotted time. At the end of each minute announce how many minutes are left, until the time is up.

Once you get an idea of how many different things your child can write or draw, ask them to attempt to do one extra item each time you subsequently play the game.

This simple exercise introduces accomplishing something within a set time frame and achieving a goal. The kids use their imagination to think of lots of pictures or words, improve their spelling where applicable, and they feel a sense of pride and achievement when they complete the task successfully. And if they do this on a regular basis when they are young, it becomes the norm and carries through to later life.

Another idea is to introduce coins to children by asking them to arrange them according to their color or size. With slightly older children, the coins can be placed in order of monetary value. This simple game can be a very effective introduction to understanding the value of money for your kids.

When childrens educational games are fun, then the kids enjoy learning without realising they are learning. Learning games can be made out of every day activities. Putting the groceries away and counting the items as you go makes learning fun. Reading the labels also teaches your children new words.

When you're out and about, encouraging them to read street signs or the words on shop windows also improves their reading skills and passes the time.

Whether learning the concept of time or achieving goals, recognizing coins or learning money, learning the alphabet or numeracy, childrens educational games are an invaluable part of the overall education process and the development of your child.

When it comes to childrens educational games, fun must be in the learning, and learning must be in the fun.
