Preschool Activities to Keep Them Busy
By:Mary Green

If you have a hard time coming up with preschool activities you are one of millions. It can be a difficult chore to come up with different things to do to keep such young children occupied. Young children have a short attention span and it can be hard to keep them interested in the task at hand. Here though are a few things you can do to get activities to last and the little ones to enjoy them.

Kids like messy. If you have crafts or preschool activities that have to do with paint or paste chances are the kids will love them. Finger painting can be a lot of fun for them, and you can even make paints that are eatable. Using yogurt or vanilla pudding with different food coloring instead of finger paints and the kids can have a snack as well as make pictures.

Change it up. Kids love coloring, but it gets old quick, what you can do is give them different mediums to use. Water paints, markers, oil crayons, colored pencils, more. You can also give them different coloring books to use, or help them choose pictures to color that they would like to give away. Encourage them to stay in the lines, but don't worry if they can't it is completely normal.

Do you have a water table? For some reason kids love playing with water. There are tables that can be set up with some water in it. You can give the kids some measuring cups, spoons, cars, trucks and little bowls to play with. You would be amazed at how long kids will play. You might want to have an extra change of clothes for the preschoolers though as they usually get pretty wet.

Most kids love music as well. You can start young with songs that teach finger play at the same time. The best songs to get kids started are the alphabet, the itsy bitsy spider, and twinkle twinkle little star. Only itsy bitsy spider is a finger play but you can find more by checking out Early Childhood Fun.
