Lessons & Classroom Games for Teachers

Re: Fun Games for Children Training in Martial Arts - Lesson
By:David

We play Sensei Says in our dojo with 5-7 year olds. However, the problem with the game is that kids spend too much of the time "sitting out" when they are eliminated.

To overcome this, we divide the group into two and have two senseis, each leading their group in a game of Sensei Says. When a child makes a mistake, they are sent out of their group to the other group.

The goal is to go for a whole game without getting sent out of your original group.

The advantage of this arrangement is that every child plays the whole time. No one spends time "sitting out" and waiting for the game to restart.

This is the best way to arrange games for younger children, because the point is to keep them active and having fun.
