The English lesson plan – Computer and Technology begins with a warming up exercise of matching words and pictures. In the pictures, students can see different gadgets such as iPhone, digital camera, BlackBerry etc. The task is to identify these gadgets and name them correctly. Then a teacher should elicit a little discussion with questions like ‘What are the key features of each gadget?’ and ‘Do you own any of these gadgets?’
The exercise, which follows, asks students to match words and definitions introducing more types of gadgets and their descriptions. This is followed by a text about gadget mania with gaps to be filled. The text allows students to learn more about symptoms and causes of gadget mania, as well as its possible outcomes.
After that, students answer comprehension questions to the text, and then discuss in pairs the problem of gadget mania, how serious it can be, and what should be done to cure it. The last two worksheets in this lesson are a crossword puzzle and an answer sheet for teachers.
